Polyacetal

polyacetalPolyacetal also called acetal, is a popular engineering thermoplastic that is used in creating items like gears, frames, thin line bushings, ball bearings, and applications that demand a high strength and rigidity. It has a continuous use temperature range of up to 180° F (82° C), and is compliant with  3-A Dairy, ASTM/Mil-Spec, Canada AG, FDA, NSF, UL-94 Flame Class, and USDA compliance standards. It is among the strongest and stiffest of all thermoplastics, yet it still maintains its high stability, and is exceptionally easy to machine with. It can also be processed by injection molding and extrusion methods.

Polyacetal Homopolymer VS Polyacetal Copolymer

Acetal homopolymer features better mechanical properties, however be aware that it has a centerline porosity that keeps it from being ideal in certain applications. Acetal copolymer is used in wet and high temperature environments, and usually outperforms Nylon and other materials in high moisture or submerged environments. You can order both homopolymer acetal and copolymer acetal from us. You’ll also find other grades available such as Unfilled, Glass Filled Acetal, PTFE Filled Acetal, Static Dissipative Acetal and Metal Detectable Acetal. Available in these shapes, Acetal Sheet, Acetal Rod, Polyacetal Hexagonal Rod, Acetal Square Rod and Acetal Tube.

We produce offer premium acetal products from industry-leading manufacturers, including Quadrant Engineering Plastics (Acetron®). We can meet your acetal needs in a variety of shapes and sizes, including sheet, rod, hexagonal rod, square rod and tube.
