Plastics are so prevalent in agriculture that their use is sometimes referred to as “plasticulture.” Performance plastics provide one of the world’s largest industries with a wide range of benefits, including longer part life and reduced equipment maintenance, higher operational safety, greater yields, and improved efficiency. Plastic is much lighter than most traditional materials, which puts less strain on machines and requires less fuel, leading to valuable cost savings and a lower carbon footprint. To further sustainability efforts, most plastics are recyclable at the end of their lifecycle, and reprocessed grades can be used in certain applications.
