Industrial PVC CPVC Material

May 16, 2018

Polymershapes is the leading plastic distributor of commercial, industrial PVC supplies. We stock all types of PVC thermoplastics including Type I, Type II, or CPVC. PVC is a thermoplastic material that offers a nice range of continuous use temperatures.

PVC Type 1

Polyvinyl chloride, part of the family of vinyl plastics, is a chemically nonreactive material that can be flexible or rigid. It has a high strength quality and performs as a good electrical and thermal insulator. PVC Type I has a range of 32° F (0° C) to 140° F (60° C).

This type of thermoplastic material stands up well against corrosion and extreme weather conditions and is commonly used in industries and applications such as chemical processing, die cutters, enclosures, food and beverage preparation and processing, gaskets and seals, machine shops, medical packaging, semiconductor and electronics, tank construction, thermoformers, and valves and fittings. You can cement around PVC tube, weld it, tool it, bend and shape into any form needed.

PVC II and CPVC

Type II and CPVC offer greater flexibility with regards to temperatures and chemical corrosion resistance. Type II and CPVC are both rigid because they are less flexible than Type I. PVC Type II has a range of -4° F (-20° C) to 140° F (60° C). CPVC has a range of -12° F (-24° C) to 212° F (100° C).

All types are typically found in rod, plastic sheet, and tube form. The plasticized type of PVC is available in films as well.

Polymershapes carries PVC Type I, PVC Type II and CPVC that meet regulatory compliance standards currently in place such as D635 Self Extinguishing, and UL-94 Flame Class.
