About PEI (Polyetherimide, ULTEM™)

PEI (Polyetherimide), also known as ULTEM™, Duratron® or Torlon®, is an amorphous engineering thermoplastic offering exceptional mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. It can be easily machined with conventional metalworking tools, and can be painted, hot stamped, printed or metallized.

PEI is dimensionally stable and offers good hydrolytic stability. It combines high heat resistance, excellent electrical properties, and inherent UV and flame resistance along with low smoke generation. However, it has very limited resistance to chemicals. It is transparent to visible infrared and microwave radiation.

Polymershapes can provide you PEI sheet or rod, produced with SABIC ULTEM™ resin, in a variety of sizes and grades – such as unfilled, glass filled and foam – as well as PEI film. We proudly offer PEI from leading edge suppliers including Duratron® from Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials (MCAM). You can rely on our expert fabrication capabilities to ensure you get just the right amount of material for your projects: We will custom cut the sheet or plate you need in the length, width and thickness you want.

With Engineering Plastics from Polymershapes you can go anywhere your imagination wants to go! We offer a vast inventory of material solutions, and a wide range of exceptional value-added services that will help you exceed your customers’ expectations. Our experienced teams stand ready to deliver best-in-class conversion and fabrication capabilities, customer service and convenience.

Applications & Industries

Transportation

Transportation

When used in structural, mechanical, or aesthetic applications, performance plastics offer a significant reduction in weight over traditional materials that can help you travel further for less money while also limiting your environmental impact.

Aerospace

Aerospace

There are a variety of reasons for using plastics – like PAI, ECTFE, PTFE, PEEK, PPSU, PVC-Acrylic, and much more – in aerospace applications, particularly airplanes.

Electrical

Electrical

Industrial and electronic equipment requires heat resistance, low conductivity, and insulating properties to promote safety in the electrical industry.

Automotive

Automotive

Plastics weigh less than alternative materials such as metal, and less weight means less fuel consumption, which is attractive to consumers when deciding what model to purchase.
