Aluminum sheets and coil stocks deliver long-life and durability in outdoor applications, and are most frequently used in the production of electric signs.

Light in weight, and non-magnetized, aluminum features both resilience and formability that make it the material of choice in a wide range of contoured and shaped products. In addition to corrosion resistance and imperviousness to water absorption, aluminum sheet and coil are easily painted or decorated – another advantage to their use in the creation of imaginative and long-lasting signage. In the sign-production industry, aluminum coil is used in channel letter fabrication to create the sidewall or return of the letter. The exterior of the coil is typically painted to match the letter and the interior is often painted with a reflective white, especially effective in enhancing LED lighting. Some fabricators use reflective vinyl to enhance lighting properties. The routed face of a channel letter is then connected to the can with sign trim. Sign trim can be affixed by pop-rivets or bonding with a chemical adhesive.

Aluminum sheet is used in a variety of signage applications including light boxes, channel letter backs and sidewalls. Anodized sheets are chemically washed to increase resistance to chemicals and corrosion.
