Performance plastics play a crucial role in the oil and gas industry for a multitude of operations including fracking, offshore, or downhole extraction, to transportation and refinement.
ECTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials: Symalit® ECTFE
SIMONA: SIMONA® ECTFE 901; SIMONA® ECTFE 902
About ECTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
ECTFE (ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene) offers an excellent combination of properties for chemical and elevated temperature applications. Often used in the semiconductor industry, and cleanroom equipment, ECTFE is corrosion and chemical resistant, with flame resistant properties.
ECTFE films provide an ideal combination of low weight and high strength for composite fabrication. Compared to other fluoropolymer films, ECTFE offers the highest abrasion resistance, as well as high dielectric strength. ECTFE films may be used in applications such as electrical applications, insulation, and aircraft interiors.

Applications & Industries
Water & Wastewater
Performance plastics are safe, durable, long-lasting, light weight, and low maintenance, making them a great solution in water and wastewater treatment plants.
Semiconductor
A wide variety of engineered plastics are used in the manufacturing of semiconductors, which are also known as microchips. Semiconductor manufacturing requires extreme precision and stability to prevent costly part failure.
Chemical
Materials used in applications in the chemical, oil and gas segments typically must meet very specific performance requirements.
Related & Associated Products
PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride)
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), sometimes known by the tradename Kynar®, is an engineering thermoplastic offering high purity, excellent chemical resistance, flame resistance, and abrasion resistance. Easy to weld, PVDF is often seen semiconductor equipment, tank liners, and various seals, fittings, valves, and pump parts.
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a high molecular weight polymer with excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties, and a low coefficient of friction. It is a highly versatile plastic material useful in a broad range of high technology market segments and products, and its properties can be modified by additives such as glass fiber, carbon, or graphite.
ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene)
Used in valves, fittings, bearings, pump components and electrical coatings, ETFE tubing is weather-resistant and inert to most solvents and chemicals. Versilon ETFE tubing is also radiation resistant.
