About PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone)

PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) is an amorphous thermoplastic material, with a continuous use temperature range of up to 300° F (149° C). It is categorized as an advanced engineering material, and offers high impact and chemical resistance. It delivers superior toughness, with better impact resistance and chemical resistance than polysulfone and polyetherimide. It also offers exceptional long-term hydrolytic stability when compared to other amorphous thermoplastics. It can withstand virtually unlimited steam sterilization and continuous exposure to moisture and high temperatures and still absorb tremendous impact without cracking or breaking. PPSU is inherently flame retardant, and is transparent and colorable.

Polymershapes proudly offers PPSU from industry-leading manufacturers, including Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials. We can meet your PPSU needs in sheet and rod, and unfilled or FDA compliant grades.
To meet your exacting needs for PPSU – or any of our quality plastics – Polymershapes offers a wide range of precision fabrication services; we will deliver your materials in proper length, width and thickness to meet your most demanding requirements.

Applications & Industries

Transportation

Transportation

When used in structural, mechanical, or aesthetic applications, performance plastics offer a significant reduction in weight over traditional materials that can help you travel further for less money while also limiting your environmental impact.

Aerospace

Aerospace

There are a variety of reasons for using plastics – like PAI, ECTFE, PTFE, PEEK, PPSU, PVC-Acrylic, and much more – in aerospace applications, particularly airplanes.

Medical Life Sciences

Medical Life Sciences

The medical industry places stringent demands on material quality, purity, and product documentation. It’s also constantly seeking cost-savings, such as long-lasting materials that can be used in less invasive treatments. Medical-grade performance plastics are just what the doctor ordered in many demanding life science applications.
